I am on my way to recovering after I tore my ACL in January. I had surgery to repair it and I am currently
doing my rehab in Park City as well as southern California. In addition to rehabbing my knee, I am also
working on a couple of other exciting projects!
My first project is designing a hat pattern with Jimmy Beans Wool and Red Heart® yarns that will
support my HATS4HOUNDS project benefitting the ASPCA. Jimmy Beans Wool and Red Heart® yarns will
provide all the product and help manufacture. I cannot wait for them to come out!
Jimmy Beans Wool and Red Heart® yarns sent me some beautiful yarns to choose from to design my
hat. The yarns were Red Heart Soft, Red Heart Boutique Midnight, Red Heart Boutique Treasure and Red
Heart Changes. It was so hard to choose but you will just have to wait and see which one I chose for my
design!
The other project that I am really excited about is a campaign called Stitch Red. The goal of Stitch Red is
to raise awareness about heart disease in women. Heart disease is the number one killer of women in
the U.S. The signs of a heart attack are different in women vs. men. It is so awesome that Jimmy Beans
Wool asked me to be in this great book series Stitch Red is developing.
The first one is called Knit Red coming out this June, and I am one of the designers in the book! The book
has 30 fabulously red garments and accessories designed and donated by well-known designers in the
yarn industry. It is wonderful to be included in such a great book with so many talented people. Stay
tuned for more about Stitch Red and Knit Red!
I cannot wait not only to get back to competing, but also to help get the word out about Hats 4 Hounds
and Knit Red! It is so great that my sponsors have supported me the way they have, and that I can
participate in these great projects.

Today I am 7 weeks post to my surgery that was done at Vail Medical Hospital. My Doc., Dr. Tom Hackett, great guy and surgeon. It was amazing what he did to re-construct my knee. I have been going back and forth from Utah and Encinitas to do my therapy. So in the mean time I have been working with sponsors and knitting some new creations. JIMMY BEANS WOOL sent me a great care packages with a bundle of yarn. I already finished a new piece, it is a cowl neck sweater. Very easy to make, it takes one yarn of Red Heart, bulky 5 that is 185 yards. Cast on 36 stitches on size 8 needles, make the scarf 3 feet long (or as long as you want it) then cast off. After you can wear as a regular scarf or sew the ends together.

Double Win in Veysonnaz

Since our race in Austria was cancelled FIS decided to do a make up race in Veysonnaz. This was going to be a 6 person race, the first time this was going to be done in Europe. I prefer to have 6 people racing, I think it is better for the sport and creates more action for spectators. Also instead of the top 16 women advancing they take 24, this enable to sport to progress because it allows a bigger field to get into the heat races.

The first race I won time trials and had my lane choice every time. This course was crucial to lane choice because how the first straight away was run. Almost falling in the first round due to a mistake off the first jump, I found my feet and pulled it together winning the rest of the heats. My second race the I qualified third. This was to give me first choice of lanes only on the first round. I had to focus on my starts and pull everything together as a package to win this next race. Finals I had third gate form the right. I did not get the whole shot but was in the running. I made a pass right at the bottom to solidify my third victory for the season.

I went free riding with the girls today. The race doesn’t start until tomorrow so were had a few days to explore. We were surrounded by beautiful mountains all day.

Changing it UP

I for the last several years I have been racing Kessler boards, and have been extremely successful on them. They have a great construction witch makes them the best race board out there. They have a plain, silver top sheet, so I decided to change it up and paint them like I would a surf board. I learned this technique from my boyfriend. I thought I might add a splash of color, witch would give me that individual flare that I crave all the time. This was a way to reinvent boards that I already had.

New Years at STRATTON

I had a good amount of time off after my first event in Telluride, CO. Christmas was great and New Years was a blast. Stratton, despite the unusual weather patterns, was able to make the holiday experience wonderful. The groomed trails were the best on the East Coast. I was able to enjoy the mountain with friends, close family and cousins. While getting the necessary traditions out of the way, I was then able to enjoy the mountain by snowboarding and skiing. For Christmas my mom and dad got me a new 3/2 wetsuit that I can’t wait to show off and my brother got me new jeans and a pair of recycled leather flip flops.

Keep A Breast

Today I did a cast for Keep A Breast. This process takes about a half an hour from start to finish. When the cast is complete an artist will paint a design on it and then it will be sold at an auction. All of the money raise will go to Breast Cancer research. If you ever had a loved one go through something as difficult as cancer than you know how I felt when my mother was diagnosed. My mother is a survivor from early detection and I tell her story to all. It might not be in your family history but you should still check yourself out at least once a year. Cast for the Cause was a fun way to participate in gaining a global awareness for Breast Cancer. I look forward to making another cast soon and maybe designing it myself.

I flew back to Cali on Friday with my friend, MacKenzie. We had a party Saturday night and it was a huge success. The deck was completely enclosed to make a spooky and dark experience. It turned into a block party as well because most of the neighbors heard our music and decided to join. There was a camera set up all night so we could document peoples costumes. Can’t wait until next year.

Trip to Puerto Rico

Since I was already down in Florida Jesse and I thought it would be fun to take a few days off and go to Puerto Rico. He has been there a bunch of times but it was my first time going down there. There was not much surf in the forecast so we also brought down snorkel gear and planned to just hang out on the beach. We flew into Aguadilla and stayed in Isabella. We were right on the beach and could take walks into the town area very easily. The beach that we were right next to was a lagoon and was perfect for snorkeling. The nice thing was that this was a fun, fast and cheap trip. We were only down there four days, but it was the perfect getaway.

Ponce Lighthouse

Took a trip on the Ruckus to the Ponce De Leon Lighthouse. Ponce De Leon was the Spanish explorer that came to the new world in search of the fountain of youth. There is so much history within a few hundred miles of the Florida coastline it is incredible. The Ponce Lighthouse was completed in 1887, and after decades of restoration it stands today as one of the most preserved and functioning lighthouses in the nation. The tower reaches 175 feet high with a short 203 steps to the top for an amazing view. View from the top, overlooking the inlet were there is still a lot of boat traffic and a popular place to surf.
